In production now, the documentary film shares the unknown history of Chicago told from a Native American perspective. It shares how Archange Ouilmette was the founding mother of Chicago and its impact on the landscape today. The little known story begins with the documentation of Sharon's ancestry and her journey to learn about her heritage. Few Chicagoans truly understand that Native Americans, let alone a 7th generation Native American still resides in Chicago. We will weave the story of the beginning of Chicago, the importance of Native American presence in Chicago, the 1830's Indian Removal Period and how today, Chicago is one of the largest Native American populations in the country.
